Two lively rivers in the southeastern corner of Tennessee, the Hiwassee and the Ocoee, are managed as one state park, providing adventurous visitors with excellent whitewater rafting opportunities along Class I-IV rapids. The Hiwassee is largely a gentler river than the Ocoee, and is also a prime river for catching a variety of fish. The Gee Creek Campground is located alongside the Hiwassee, and there are miles of nearby trails for journeying by foot or on horseback. Both rivers are located southeast of Athens, near the North Carolina state border, with the Hiwassee running further north than the Ocoee.
Open year round. Office open 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
